At Mercon Coffee Group we are extremely proud to be part of an organization that operates profitably while incorporating social and environmental responsibility in its business model. This commitment to our communities, clients, employees, shareholders and the environment has led us to incorporate a set of standards and initiatives to work in a sustainable fashion.
Part of our investment in sustainability has been centered on promoting the adoption of responsible agricultural practices among our growers in order to have a positive impact on their quality of life and on the environment. Under this model, we have developed a technical assistance program to obtain different world-class certifications.
Similarly, Mercon Nicaragua has fostered a series of sustainable initiatives, such as the treatment of the honey water from the coffee milling and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the reuse of coffee hulls.
